About Phoenix Cyber Academy

MISSION AND VISION STATEMENT

Phoenix Cyber Academy is a nonprofit vocational
institution dedicated to transforming the lives of
underserved, low income, and veteran community members
by providing THEM free cyber security training, APPRENTICESHIPS and career placement.

OUR VISION INCLUDES removING these barriers to allow anyone
to pursue a career in cyber security regardless of their
ethnicity, race, socioeconomic status, gender,
sexual orientation, or geographical area.

The concept for a fast and affordable path into the field of cyber security started out as dream in 2018. As a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and the U.S. Coast Guard, Jeffrey Crump knew from his experience being trained by the military that there was a better, cheaper path for those that wanted to enter the cyber security field.

All across industry were cries of how companies were ever going to fill the millions of open cyber security jobs. And yet, when he looked at the large cyber security training companies like isc(2), who charges more than $7,000 for a week of training, it was very clear why there were so many open positions: it was too expensive for the average person, let alone those struggling to make ends meet. And that’s for ONE certification course, not including the cost of the exam, which often add another $700-$800. It was clear that the only people who could afford this training were those who already had a decent paying job or people who worked for a company willing and able to pay these exorbitant fees.

In 2019, as leader of Cyber Security Training and Consulting LLC, Mr. Crump launched the Street-to-Cyber program. This charitable program delivered its two-weekend, four-day Cyber Security Fundamentals Professional course for free to anyone who wanted an introduction to cyber security based on the same security domains as the Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) and ISACA CSX Foundations certifications. This program was well-received and served as reinforcement that there are indeed people who are willing to put in the time and energy to become cyber security professionals if only given the opportunity.

During the challenging times of a global pandemic, the plan for Phoenix Cyber Academy began to solidify and in April 2021 the paperwork was submitted to establish the company as an Arizona non-profit, with proactive steps taken to align it for subsequent federal 501(c)(3) status. This process continues today.
